PIPE
MAKER OF THE MONTH
Simeon Turner Like many other pipe makers, I began making pipes because I thought it would be a fun project to make a pipe for myself. Using a pre-drilled kit, I turned out my first pipe using nothing but a dremel and a lot of sandpaper.
It didn't take long for me to decide that I loved the creative process of pipe making, and I quickly stepped up to drilling my own blocks and doing my best to attach pre-molded stems.
The stems and briar I purchased from PME back then were great, and that made it easy for me to feel comfortable ordering ebonite and cumberland rods later on when I started cutting my own stems.
Ours is a unique and special little community; the pipe makers, pipe smokers, and pipe vendors of the world are all cut from similar cloth, eclectic as it may be. It's been a privilege and an honor to share a tiny piece of the community with you all, and I look forward to many years to come! Cheers!
